ABOUT SPL PHARMACY

SPL Pharmacy is a private, non-NHS pharmacy service operated by Sussex Pathology LTD. The pharmacy does not hold an NHS contract and does not provide NHS dispensing services.

SPL Pharmacy does not provide a prescribing service. The pharmacy dispenses and supplies medicines only against valid private prescriptions issued by appropriately regulated prescribers outside the pharmacy service.

Every prescription is subject to legal, clinical and professional checks before supply. The pharmacy may decline to dispense or supply a medicine where it is unsafe, inappropriate, incomplete, unclear, or where there are concerns about misuse, overuse, identity, consent or patient safety.

SPL Pharmacy does not provide a prescribing service. Prescribing decisions are made outside the pharmacy service by appropriately regulated prescribers working under their own clinical governance arrangements.

Where a patient has a valid private prescription, SPL Pharmacy may dispense and supply the medicine after completing the required legal, clinical and professional checks.

The pharmacy may refuse to dispense or supply a medicine where it is not clinically appropriate, where required information is missing, where there are concerns about safety, misuse or overuse, or where the prescription does not meet legal or professional requirements.

Some services linked to SPL Pharmacy may include an online clinical consultation provided by Sussex Pathology LTD under its clinical governance. Where clinically appropriate, a regulated prescriber may issue a private prescription. SPL Pharmacy then dispenses and supplies the medicine against that prescription.
